Jacenty

Jacenty
Jacenty m
Polish form of the male name HYACINTH (SEE Hyacinth). This was popular in Poland in earlier centuries, and is the source of the modern Polish given name JACEK (SEE Jacek). It owes less to the early Christian saints called Hyacinthus than to the Polish missionary St Jacenty (1185–1257). He was a canon of Cracow and was initiated into the Dominican order by St Dominic himself. He is said to have undertaken missionary journeys to Pomerania, Russia, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and even China and Tibet.
